Federal Member for Page, Mr Kevin Hogan MP announced a $500,000 grant for Sunshine Sugar and Sustinent Pty Ltd. The partnership will use the funding for the development of manufacturing processes for higher-value products using agricultural waste in the sugar industry.

The funding was announced as part of the Government’s $30 million Commercialisation Fund.

“This project will see the use of cane trash and bagasse to produce a diversified product range including nutritionally enhanced feedstock,” said Mr Hogan.

This is exciting for our region, good for the environment, good for the sugar industry, good for livestock.

The project will also create jobs and other economic benefits in the region.

This funding supports projects within the Government’s six National Manufacturing Priorities including medical products, food and beverage, resources technology and critical minerals processing, recycling and clean energy, defence, and space.
