The Broadwater Sugar Mill has had its fair share of challenges since the catastrophic flooding in early 2022.
Having brought the factory back into full operation in just a matter of months, the Broadwater Mill is back to, if not better than, its former glory as the largest volume sugar mill in NSW.
To add to this remarkable achievement, the site has now celebrated a record of 441 days Lost Time Injury Free, exceeding the previous record set back in 2014.
Acting Broadwater Operations Manager Mark Campbell proudly announced the achievement at a site BBQ, thanking the team for their diligence with regard to safety.
Sunshine Sugar CEO Mr Chris Connors said: “By working together and in alignment with our company values of teamwork, integrity, excellence, accountability, and safety – we build our safety culture. Keeping our employees safe is at heart of daily operations in the Sunshine Sugar business based on the commitment that every employee should return home fit and well at the end of each workday.”
Sunshine Sugar Chairman and former Engineering Manager at Broadwater Mill, Mr Stephen Wagner then congratulated the Broadwater team for their focus on safety and announced that the Board had approved a $300 bonus payment as a thank you and as a congratulations to each member of the Broadwater mill team.
The Broadwater Sugar Mill sustained some $30m in damages as a result of the February 2022 flood event. The team managed to bring the manufacturing plant back into full production within just 6 months.
