NSW Sugar Industry Farming Code of Practice
On 6th October 2005, the NSW Sugar Industry adopted
a Farming Code of Practice to ensure the future sustainability of
the industry. "The NSW Sugar Industry recognises that as primary
producers we have a duty of care to the environment and we need
to take reasonable measures to farm sugar cane in a way that minimises
our impact", said Neil Gregor, Chairman of New South Wales
Sugar Milling Co-operative Ltd."The purpose of the Code of
Practice is to establish best management practices on all aspects
of farming operations that will keep our industry sound and profitable".
